We have been writing how-to stories in writing. We have been practicing using time order words, like first, next, and then. Have your son or daughter help you in the kitchen and work together to discuss the steps and the importance of telling the steps in the right order! Your son or daughter can also write simple how-tos, such as how to brush your teeth or how to draw a smiley face. Happy writing at home!

Word Rings!

The children have been working hard on the Kindergarten sight words. They were “quizzed” on the words this week. Some of the students got ALL of the words correct and were given new pink cards to practice. All of the students were given a list of the words with the ones that they missed circled. Please continue to practice reading these words, finding them in books, and spelling the words. Thank you for all of your hard work at home!

Some students have “misplaced” their word rings. These were distributed in November. Please check around your house for the bag with the yellow note and word ring. Thank you so much!

Polar Express

We will be watching the Polar Express this week and comparing it to the classic children’s text. To celebrate, on Thursday we will be watching the movie in our pajamas! Students are welcome to wear their favorite pajamas to enjoy this touching film! Happy holidays to everyone!

Scholastic Book Orders

Scholastic Book Orders are due on Friday. December order forms will be coming home very shortly also, because these orders usually take a long time to arrive due to the holiday shipping. Remember, books make great gifts for the children in your lives!

Apples

Thank you so much to all of the families who already sent in an apple for us to use in class this week. We will be observing, sorting and learning about apples this week. If anyone has an apple peeler and corer that we could borrow this week, please let me know. It would greatly help us when we are making applesauce on Friday! Thank you!

Gaver Tree Farm

We are looking forward to our first field trip. If there is rain on Tuesday our rain date is Thursday, October 21st!

Reminders:
1. Bring a non-perishable bag lunch–unless you paid $2 for a school lunch.
2. Wear comfortable clothing and shoes as we will be walking, playing, and puking pumpkins.
3. Chaperones should arrive at school by 9 to receive information. The buses will leave at 9:15; chaperones may drive separately.
4. Chaperones may not purchase items for students.
